It's the start of yet another work week and I have a to-do list a mile high. Even though it happens every week, my list just seems to grow and grow. Perhaps because I keep adding things to my plate, but it makes me happy to have a long to-do list, as odd as that sounds. If you're thankful for the work you have, your perspective on life will change so much. Since making my health a huge priority, I thought sharing a few tips would help someone else.
5 Easy Peezy Swaps for a Healthier Lifestyle:
Tip 1: Drink a gallon of water a day. I know this seems hard but it's not. I've been drinking a gallon (or more) of water for several years now and it has changed my life. My skin is clear, (no dairy helps this too), and I'm so much healthier. Start buy getting a glass or stainless steel water bottle to refill! Then slowly try and drink more and more each day. You only have to fill it 4 times to drink a gallon of water a day!
Tip 2: Use glass straws. There is a giant pack of them on amazon for around 10 bucks. I clean them regularly and keep one in my purse and say no to plastic straws as much as possible. I'm not sure if you guys are aware of how much we can help the environment just by making swaps in our daily lives. It's been scientifically proven that plastic is a huge hormone disrupter. So avoiding this whenever you can will quite literally keep you sane. Plus you're saving the planet and turtles, it's a win win!
Tip 3: Buy a safe ingredient mascara. I know I know, it seems extreme. But guess what? One of the main ingredients in mascara is petroleum. I don't think I need to explain how dangerous that can be in our bodies, and if you're wondering, yes, mascara gets into your blood stream. There are so many awesome companies that have amazing, safe mascara (they even sell on amazon). Pacifica is one of my favorites!
Tip 4: Buy a few reusable bags! This seems like a no-brainer, but the little bit we can do each time we shop, the better. I buy reusable ones at stores I love like Home Goods and Trader Joe's and I make sure to keep them in my trunk so that whenever I shop I just grab them on my way into the store. I haven't used a plastic bag in almost a year now!
Tip 5: Go on walks! Our office has become obsessed with steps. We even go on walks multiple times a day just so we can hit our goals! We are 8 weeks into doing better, moving more, and eating better. I've lost an entire pant size already and both of my bosses have lost over 20 pounds...just by walking and eating better. It's not hard to lose weight and get healthy. You just have to be willing to do it. Start with walking, it'll do wonders for your body and attitude.
