You're Not Alone

There's this song on Christian radio right now that I adore. Every time I hear it, it fills me up in ways I can't explain. Do you ever hear a song and just know that it's exactly what you needed to hear? I get chill bumps. In the song the lyrics it says "you're never alone." Sometimes that's the only thing you need to hear. It's amazing what three little words can do for your mood. Life is tough. We're all struggling in different ways. Some financially, some with body image, some with being over weight, some with divorce, some with anxiety. The list goes on and on. I personally struggle with feeling like I am unable to...

Growth

My word of the year for 2108 is GROWTH. It's now April and I'm full-on wondering how the heck we got here so fast. When I started to write my intentions for the year, I had a list a mile long of things I wanted to accomplish and then I realized that I needed to be realistic when it came to my goals. It's nice to have a million goals but it's not practical to think you can accomplish all of them in the time that you want. God has a plan that's much much different than ours. We can plan our little hearts out but some things are just going to change in life. Either it's...

Try your Best, Forget the Rest

"Whatever it takes"   Let's talk about relationships. I spent so much time under the age of 25 dating and dating and dating. I got hurt so many times. And not just a little hurt, I'm talking about manipulative, heart-breaking, hurt.  I honestly thought I would never repair my heart and allow it to open up to the love that it deserved, ever again. I dated a lot of idiots, I'll be honest. I never had great luck with guys. Was it me? Was it them? Was it where I was hanging out and who I was spending time with? I'm sure all those years I spent hanging out in bars didn't help. My mom used to always tell...

No longer lost

I recently saw the phrase "no longer lost" and it really hit home. Since we are currently in the season of Lent and quickly approaching Easter, I couldn't help but compare the two. The meaning behind Easter is simply that we'll never be lost again, because Jesus died to save us from our sins, we have been found. It's really as simple as that. He made Himself a sacrifice so that we can live our lives free from sin and suffering. We are His children who are taken care of in every aspect we could imagine. We tend feel lost, I know I feel lost sometimes, especially throughout difficult times. I try hard to be a positive person...

Why comparison is the thief of joy.

Three years ago I was preparing to stand on stage in a bikini. I was less than a month out from my first (and last) bodybuilding competition. For 12 weeks I did an extreme diet that consisted only of broccoli, tilapia, chicken, plain oatmeal, peanut butter (if I was LUCKY), very very lean ground beef and egg whites. For the majority of those weeks I was eating under 1000 calories a day. I did fasted cardio for 45 minutes to an hour each morning. Fasted meaning with no food in my system. Then I would go back to the gym at night and I would have a weightlifting program I would do each day and then more cardio when...
