Growth

spring flower blooming blog post on growth

My word of the year for 2108 is GROWTH. It's now April and I'm full-on wondering how the heck we got here so fast. When I started to write my intentions for the year, I had a list a mile long of things I wanted to accomplish and then I realized that I needed to be realistic when it came to my goals. It's nice to have a million goals but it's not practical to think you can accomplish all of them in the time that you want. God has a plan that's much much different than ours. We can plan our little hearts out but some things are just going to change in life. Either it's God teaching us a lesson or it's God protecting us from something we couldn't see at that time. I'll be honest, last week was a hard one for me. I had a really difficult time with my body image issues, they just felt so overwhelming. I felt uncomfortable in every outfit I tried on. I felt like my workouts weren't good enough. I felt like I should be pushing my body more. Every time I looked at myself I couldn't help but hate what I saw. It's hard watching your body change over time. It's been exactly 3 years this week since my bikini competition. I'd be lying if I said I didn't look back at those photos at least a few times a month. It makes me sad to see my body change so much but in other ways glad, because that wasn't a healthy lifestyle. It's so funny that people think fitness is "healthy". Well, I'm here to teach y'all some things. Healthy isn't a size. Healthy isn't a number on the scale. Healthy doesn't consist of extremes and eliminating everything you love and enjoy in life. Healthy isn't a certain amount of yoga classes or lifting a certain amount of weight. Healthy is you, taking care of your body. It's drinking more water and sitting down less. It's moving more and eating green veggies at least one time a day. It doesn't have to be over complicated. We just have to actually try to do better every day. The easier we make it, the easier it will be to stay on track. I want to challenge you to get yourself healthy! We have to remember that God gave us these precious bodies for a certain amount of time. We need to respect them and treat them like the temple He intended. Since Spring is a season of growth I knew this blog post came at the perfect time. I've been seeing a lot of positivity going around lately and let me just say, I LOVE it!  I think the more positivity we experience, the better off we are these days. I'm going to choose a word each week to focus on to pull me through the hard times. My word for this week is FAITH! Without it, I certainly wouldn't survive. Growth is never going to be an easy thing to experience but if I'm being honest, I want to feel uncomfortable. If we constantly live in that "safe" place then we will never allow ourselves to change and become who God created us to be. This is why my faith is more than necessary. Here are three essential things to remember about growth.

1. Growth is NEVER easy.

2. Growth shouldn't be comfortable, it should be uncomfortable.

3. Growth means change, you cannot grow without change.

4. Growth will never happen over night, be patient.

Let's grow together!
